I wore this outfit on Thursday, but I had jury duty that ran later than anticipated, and yesterday we had thunderstorms.  I wanted to make up for it by taking pictures of three outfits today, but two hours and 108 pictures later, my battery was depleted and I had to leave for a dinner engagement with no time to change.  Midway through dinner I realized I'd been so busy and distracted that I forgot to put on a bra! 8-O

On Thursday, I stopped by Verizon and bought a Motorola Razr Maxx.  The saleswoman asked if I had to dress up for work.  Honestly this is just the way I dress, but it was easier telling her that it was for my blog.  I think there should be no such thing as overdressed, don't you?

This is the first time I've taken pictures of myself with a timer.  I like it because I don't have to feel self-conscious with someone watching me.  A lot of my insecurity stems from being called fat by people in China.  I am considered big-boned and people tend to be very blunt over there.

When I moved to Houston after living in China for several years, I was pleasantly surprised to find people calling me skinny, and even more so when they say they like my legs.  I used to hate my legs because they are so thick, but I'm finally comfortable showing them in shorts and skinny jeans.

Striped Maxi

This dress is one of my favorites.  I have it in 5 different colors, 3 striped and 2 solid.  I find the V-neck, fitted top, and flared skirt to be a very flattering combination.

The mirrored aviator sunglasses are actually Express Men's.  I didn't realize it when I was trying it on at the store, but it makes sense that they fit me well since I have a bigger, wider face.

Today was a typical lazy day - no makeup.  You probably won't find me wearing sunglasses when I have makeup on because my flat Asian nose can't keep the sunglasses from hitting my false lashes, and I HAVE TO have my lashes!

I wore this outfit while shopping at Forever 21 a few weeks ago.  I received several compliments on my shoes.  One lady even pulled out a pen and paper for me to write down the brand.  Next time I can just refer people to my blog hehe.

Neon Hi-Lo

I went to K100 with the Chinese Speakers in Houston Meetup Group today.  It was the first time I've sung karaoke in a private room in the US, and I tried not to hog the mic lol.

It was also my first time doing smokey eyes.  I've always been afraid to experiment on my monolids, and I definitely don't trust anyone else to do my makeup (I always end up looking like a clown/panda whenever they try).  The last time I wore a different color eyeshadow was many years ago, and my dad said I looked like a "ghost/monster" (Chinese translation).  Even today my boyfriend said he liked my regular makeup better, but I thought it turned out alright.  What do you think?

After karaoke I only had a few minutes before the sun went down to take pictures of my outfit.  I wore the same dress with a gold skinny belt to the H&M Grand Opening last week.  I hope you enjoy!
